OH MY ENGLISH ~ ENGLISH EVERYWHERE !

Guys , lets just get things straight to the point , we are all surrounded by English ! English is everywhere - televisions , radios , newspaper , advertisement etc. So , how can we live without knowing how to read and speak in English ? How ?

Of course we can't . It's just the English level of someone that differs from the others . Some can fluently speaks but not write . Some can write a very beautiful-error free essay but they can't speak .In order to master a language, we must be balance in all aspects - speaking , writing , listening , reading . This is because communication involves two or more people . Not to mention English only - all languages are the same .

So , in this entry we shall see how can someone improves their English . This tips may also be applied to those learning any other languages . Just apply these routine in your daily life , and  boom !!

1 - Start writing in English . 

This maybe the easiest and practical way for you to improve English . What does it mean by writing in English ? Create your own blog !  The traditional way would be writing your own diary . Yes , you may do so but blogging is much more interesting . It is actually a more up-to-date way for you to share something with everyone . At the same time you'll improve little by little. Blog about something you love - your hobby , your family , your experience going holiday in Bali or wherever - JUST WRITE!


2 - Start listening to English music 

If your type of music before this is Malay or Chinese or Korean , why not try English ? Just when you found the right music , you will realize how how beautiful the English language are. Try The Beatles , or song back in the 80's and 90's . Their music was so relaxing and meaningful . Anddd , andd read the lyrics together with the song . This will give you better understanding and adds on your vocabs too !

3 - Start reading in English 

Try reading comics in English . Comics are enjoyable , and easy to understand . Just beware in mind that comics sometimes consists of slang that you may not understand ,so choose wisely . Anyhow , reading magazine in English will also help you . In Malaysia , we often see entertainment magazine such as GALAXY , CLEO , WOMAN'S WEEKLY etc. If you want something more serious , try READERS DIGEST , BBC KNOWLEDGE , NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC etc. It doesn't matter what kind of magazine , what matters is that you keep English close to you and your heart .

You can also read newspaper in English . New Straits Time or The Star  would be the best to start with. Try reading a short, simple article first . After you get used to it , then only move on to longer, complicated articles . YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND every single meaning in the text , so don't get upset with that . Try to get the rough idea first , and you'll see later that your understanding will be much better .


4- Start watching English movies plus English subtitles .

This would be the most enjoyable way ever . Not only you get to have fun , you will also gain new vocab ! Not just that , you learn how to pronounce it correctly . If you just look up in the dictionary , you will have some trouble pronouncing them , unless you are a dictionary expert . But , by watching movies , it sure help you master English to the max !

5 - Start speaking in English .

Speak with your collegue , your lectures, your family - everyone ! Many people WILL find this as embarrassing or a bit false . But if you didn't practice this , all the above routine  you've been practicing is useless . If you are still embarressed , find a foreign friends from the US , Germany or Japan . The easiest way would be entering an online forum where you can find lots of foreigners out there that have the same goal just like you .

6- KEEP CONSTANT  

This is the hardest part . But that's it .  Just keep on going with these routine , and you will be satisfied with how much you have improve . You will gain the confidence you need. :)
